AI Knowledge Base
SitePal's AI Knowledge Base is a form of Artificial Intelligence, which allows users to interact with SitePal scenes by typing in questions such as "How much does this product cost?" and getting back reasonably intelligent answers. This technology lets users look for answers in a much more intuitive and enjoyable way than traditional website search engines.
NOTE: Not all SitePal account packages support this feature.
API
API stands for Application Programming Interface or a collection of programming functions, which allow developers to extend a system's functionality. For example, using the API, developers can program SitePal characters to respond to a user's actions while on a given web page.
SitePal's API supports development in both JavaScript and ActionScript (Flash) and the documentation is available in the support section of the site.
NOTE: Not all SitePal account packages support the ability to use the API with both JavaScript and Flash.
Audio Stream
An audio stream is a single audio playback instance.
Audio Streams are measured by counting the number of audios which are transmitted and played by Oddcast's servers over the Internet.
For example, if you a have a SitePal scene on a web page that receives 10,000 page-views, you should expect to use 10,000 streams. Similarly, if a user hears audio messages from five different SitePal scenes, then five audio streams have been used.
Each SitePal account package is bundled with a different number of audio streams.
For example, if your particular package comes with 2,500 streams, you can play up to 2,500 streams in your SitePal scenes before you use up your allocated amount.
Background
A background is any graphic image in that can be incorporated into a SitePal scene. Backgrounds are intended to give your SitePal scenes both context and atmosphere.
For example, if you are using your SitePal scene on a website that sells real estate, you might use an image of a house as a background to reinforce the impact and relevancy of your scene to the site it is featured on.
Each SitePal account package is bundled with a large number of backgrounds, or you can add your own by uploading your own images.
Character
By using our design tools, you can create your own virtual speaking characters in SitePal. Characters are created by molding one of the available Models (also called "Base Characters").
Custom Backgrounds
You can easily add your own custom backgrounds to any SitePal scene by simply uploading the JPEG image of your choice through an easy-to-use interface.
Extra Scenes
Should you require additional scenes beyond what is bundled with your particular SitePal account package, you may purchase extra scenes at any time.
Extra Audio Streams
Should you require additional audio streams beyond what is bundled with your particular account package, you may purchase extra audio streams at any time. Currently, you can purchase additional audio streams in blocks of 1,000, 10,000 and 100,000. When buying in bulk, the more audio streams you purchase at once, the more you save.
Flash Integration
Users can integrate their scenes into Flash movies using SitePal's built-in "Embed in Flash" functionality. Furthermore, advanced users can extend this functionality by using SitePal's API to communicate with their Flash movies to create very reach multimedia experiences.
NOTE: Not all SitePal account packages support this feature.
Model
A Model is a pre-defined, animated "Base Character", which has not had its appearance changed by the user.
Each SitePal account package is bundled a different number of pre-defined models.
Packages
SitePal offers three types of account packages:
Furthermore, each package can be purchased on a monthly or annual basis so you're not locked into a package should your needs change and as you come to appreciate SitePal's incredible utility and value.
Professional Voice Talent
In addition to recording your own audio, SitePal offers the option of using professional voice talent to record your character messages. This option is recommended for when only the best will do since professionally recorded audio will really enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of your SitePal scenes.
Publish to Web Page
SitePal allows you to easily add your scenes and characters to any web page using its powerful publishing capabilities. Absolutely no programming is required. You simply cut and paste some code, insert it into your page and voila - you've added SitePal to your website!
Record your Audio
SitePal allows you to easily add your own audio messages using one of two methods:
- Recording by microphone - You can use any inexpensive (or built-in) microphone to record messages up to 60 seconds long directly into the SitePal environment.
- Recording by telephone - You can use any telephone (cell or analog) to record messages up to 60 seconds long directly into the SitePal environment from anywhere in the world. This feature is particularly useful if you need to change a given message and don't have easy access to a computer.
Removable SitePal Branding
Under normal circumstances, every SitePal scene displays a small watermark used to brand and promote SitePal's amazing technology. Since this branding isn't always desirable, it's possible to remove it from your scenes under certain account packages.
Scene
A scene in SitePal is a combination of an animated character, an audio message, and a background.
Each SitePal account package is bundled with a different number of scenes.
For example, if your particular package comes with five scenes, you can display up to five unique characters, audio messages and backgrounds on your web site.
Text-to-Speech (TTS) Functionality
Text-to-Speech or TTS is functionality that allows you to dynamically convert written text into synthesized speech, which can then be spoken aloud by your SitePal characters.
For example, you can use TTS to make your SitePal characters say various things based on certain user actions such as clicking on a link, or rolling over a button, etc.
SitePal incorporates technology from the world's leading TTS solution vendors: AT&T Natural Voices and Loquendo in order to produce the highest quality speech.
NOTE: Not all SitePal account packages support this feature.
Upload Your Audio
In addition to recording your own audio, you can take virtually any pre-recorded audio file (in either .WAV or MP3 formats) and upload it into the SitePal environment using an easy-to-use interface.
